Nicola Ko

Classes

Profile

Nicola discovered yoga in 2009 and has been teaching for 5 years. She believes in a balanced approach to yoga and fitness, teaching a slow-flowing style of yoga with a strong focus on breathing, and incorporating inspiration from other movement practices such as Feldenkrais.

She wishes to bring a sense of calm to everyone in her classes, her goal being that they leave feeling better at the end than at the start! Her classes are non-competitive, and she encourages people to find what feels good in their bodies.

Classes

Profile

I have been teaching exercise classes for almost 15 years (time flies when you are having fun!). I’ve taught many different group classes since I first entered the fitness industry, from Kangoo Jumps to Spinning, but my passion is mind-body classes. Having originally trained as a dancer, I have a thoughtful and creative approach to movement and believe movement is a hugely powerful tool to help us nurture our wellbeing.

My first love was Pilates, but you can also find me teaching Freestyle Fitness Yoga or stretch classes online – or chasing around after my toddler at home! I am also a sports massage therapist, pre/post-natal qualified instructor and still occasionally dance and choreograph.

Amy Thomas

My passion and skills are in indoor cycle. I deliver a wide range of cycle classes that vary from watt & heart rate training for the outdoors to rhythm classes, which is an all-over body workout on an indoor bike.

FAQ

How do I book classes?

You can book here, you will need to register an account and you will receive an email with a link to the class. Simply click on the link at the right time and join the class.

What if I do not exercise at the moment, or have taken a break from exercise?

Our classes are suitable for all levels of fitness. The classes vary in difficulty, but all our instructors will offer different options on exercises. As with all exercise you should take it all at your own pace.

I have an injury; can I still take part?

It would depend on the injury. If you are unsure you can contact us on info@energy-fitpto.co.uk and let us know the class(es) you want to attend, we can then put you in touch with the instructor.

Do I have to turn my camera and microphone on?

No, some members prefer to do so, but this is totally up to you.

How long do the classes last?

Classes vary between 30 and 45 minutes, the times are stated on the timetable. Each class has a warmup and cool down included in the class.

Class Descriptions

Take a look at all the classes we are offering

Freestyle Pump

If you’re looking to tone up, build muscle or burn fat, this class using weights (or household items) will give you an all over, total body workout. As you lift, curl, squat and lunge your way through the range of upbeat exercises.

No weights at home?  Try using cans, water bottles, bag of flour (just don’t drop it), a heavy book…  As long as you can hold it quite easily, try it.

Fusion Fitness

A fun, effective and varied workout that will combine elements from all different types of classes.  Starting with a 25-minute body blast to work through a wide array of exercises that will build your cardio, strength, core, balance, and agility. Finishing with a 20 minute stretch routine to enhance mobility, flexibility, and release tension and tightness.

Zumba

It’s time to ditch the dull routines and join the party with this fusion of Latin international rhythms and easy-to-follow moves. Through both low and high intensity movements, you’ll be dancing your way through this calorie burning dance workout. Great if your goal is weight loss or general fitness.

Aerobics

A 45-minute class that combines rhythmic exercises with the aim to improve cardio-vascular fitness and coordination. The class will be performed to music, as the instructor leads you through various aerobic moves building up a routine, making it easier to follow, as well as a toning section to give you an all over body workout. You will see the minutes fly by as you are having fun.

Stretch

A 30-minute class focussed on releasing muscle tension and improving flexibility. The class will include some breath work and relaxation for both mental and physical benefits. You are guaranteed to leave feeling more balanced, calm and grounded.

.

LBT

A class of strength exercises to condition the Legs, the Bum and the Tum (LBT). This virtual class will involve mainly body weight exercises to include everyone, at times some weighted, or resistance work might be involved. We will announce prior to the class what to bring or what household equipment can be used instead. There will something for everyone 🙂

Low Impact Interval Training

A 30-minute class of low impact strength & cardio exercises structured in a circuit style. There will be times of intensity followed by recovery time. Variations and options will be offered for different fitness levels. Be prepared to get a sweat on and feel good!

Freestyle Yoga

A programme by GroupXtraining, combining Yoga postures with contemporary fitness principals. To improve strength, endurance and flexibility. A non-spiritual take on Yoga, there is no “namaste” or led meditation, but we have a mindful approach to movement and a guided relaxation to finish. General level, all welcome.

Circuit Training

A full body workout that will combine using body weight exercises and household items to increase your heart rate, improve your muscle tone & build on your overall strength.   This class has been designed for all abilities.

Power Yoga

Get ready for a challenge as we move through a series of stretching and mobilising yoga flows that build in intensity to incorporate dynamic and strength based movements, building heat within the body so we break a sweat.

You will leave feeling satisfied you have worked hard, proud that you have stretched out and calm as you will have blissed out in the short savasana at the end of class.

Barre

Barre class is a workout technique inspired by ballet, yoga, and Pilates elements. An energising, whole-body workout that develops alignment, strengthen your core, tones and sculpts your muscles – think of it as offering all the body benefits of a ballet dancer – but without having to attempt a pirouette! Class is done in socks, and you will need a chair and a pair of small weights or tin cans. A fun workout that especially hits your legs and glutes, Barre focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements designed to strengthen your body in ways that few other exercises can. No dance experience is necessary; come as you are and leave feeling tired but graceful!

Sweat & Sculpt

Challenge your stability and strength using low to medium hand weights and resistance bands. Boot camp style exercises. Let’s sweat and sculpt our bodies!
